Mr. DiCenzo is responsible for the overall operation and strategic direction of Cognios Capital. Prior to joining Cognios in 2015, Mr. DiCenzo was President & CEO of Chicago based strategic consulting firm IMC Group. Mr. DiCenzo also led Scout Investment Advisors as President of the Scout Mutual Fund complex, the President & CEO of Scout Distributors and as a board director to the advisor from 2003-2010. Over the past 25 years, he has focused on the strategic planning and growth for both institutional and mutual fund investment managers. Mr. DiCenzo received an MBA and a Bachelor's Degree in Management from Rhode Island College.

  • Chairman

Mr. Brandmeyer, co-founder of Cognios Capital, works closely with the Cognios management team in order to provide executive leadership oversight and guidance on the general management of the firm as well as assisting on the execution of Cognios' strategic plan. Prior to co-founding Cognios, Mr. Brandmeyer held various senior level positions at Enturia, an industry leader in medical products. Preceding its sale to Cardinal Health in 2008, Enturia employed 600 individuals with revenue approaching $150 million. Mr. Brandmeyer was instrumental in building Enturia's innovative industry leadership and formulating the negotiations that resulted in the divestiture to Cardinal Health. Mr. Brandmeyer earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Kansas, his MBA from the University of Missouri Kansas City and a CIS Degree from Devry University.

Prior to co-founding Cognios Capital, Mr. Angrist was a Co-Owner of and Portfolio Manager at Helzberg Angrist Capital (“HAC”), the predecessor firm to Cognios. HAC was an alternative asset investment firm specializing in deep value, long/short equity hedge fund management. Prior to HAC, Mr. Angrist was a Portfolio Manager for a mutual fund company, The Buffalo Funds, where he launched and managed the Buffalo Micro Cap Fund. Mr. Angrist also served as a Principal with the private equity firm Harvest Partners, Inc. in New York City. Prior to that he was a senior consultant for a leading, independent management consulting firm. Mr. Angrist’s educational background includes an MBA and a B.S. (Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa) from Tulane University.

Prior to co-founding Cognios Capital, Mr. Machtley was a Senior Analyst at Helzberg Angrist Capital, the predecessor firm to Cognios. Previously, Mr. Machtley served as an associate portfolio manager at a Chicago-based hedge fund manager focused on micro-capitalization equities. Prior to that, Mr. Machtley worked in investment banking where he worked on a wide variety of engagements including sell-side M&A transactions, buy-side M&A transactions, business recapitalizations, fairness opinions, valuation appraisals and other financial advisory assignments. Mr. Machtley received his B.S. in Business Administration with majors in Finance and Economics from Drake University.

Mr. Braun, co-founder of Cognios Capital, serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Cognios Capital and oversees all aspects of financial management of the firm. He previously served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Enturia, Inc., an industry leader in skin antiseptics which he helped sell to Cardinal Health in 2008. From 2002 to 2006, he served as Global Vice-President of Taxation and Divisional Financial Officer for the Telecommunications, Government, Technology, and Energy & Water Consulting Divisions of Black & Veatch, a global leader in the engineering industry. Mr. Braun was with Aventis Pharmaceuticals and its predecessor companies from 1988 to 2002 having served in various financial management positions both domestically and abroad. From 1984 to 1988, he was with KPMG, most recently serving as a Tax Manager. Mr. Braun received his B.S. degree with a dual major in accounting and finance from Kansas State University and has completed executive business leadership programs at Columbia University and St. Louis University. Mr. Braun is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Wheeler has twenty six years of equity and fixed income investment experience and currently oversees all aspects of trading and clearing. Before joining Cognios Capital, Mr. Wheeler spent sixteen years at American Century Investments, most recently as VP and Director of U.S. Equity Trading. Mr. Wheeler's industry experience also includes five years as an OTC market maker for Robert W. Baird & Co. and Blunt, Ellis and Loewi in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Wheeler has served on NYSE’s Institutional Traders Advisory Committee, NASDAQ’s Quality of Markets Committee and the Investment Company Institute’s (ICI) Equity Markets Advisory Committee. He was selected by the ICI to testify on their behalf before the SEC on Reg NMS and has testified before a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee on decimalized trading. Mr. Wheeler graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a BA in Economics and holds a series 65 registration.

  • Chief Compliance Officer

Ms. Storey has eight years of experience in the financial services industry. She served as Chief Compliance Officer, Registered Municipal Principal, and Registered Options and Security Futures Principal for a national Broker-Dealer and SEC Registered Investment Adviser. As such, she was responsible for the leadership, design and oversight of the firm’s compliance and supervisory program. Her supervisory experience pertaining to investment adviser activities includes Financial Planning, Wealth Management, Asset Allocation, Separately Managed Accounts, Discretionary Portfolio Management, Solicitation Arrangements and Private Funds. Prior to joining Cognios, she was the Vice President of a compliance consulting firm which provides a vast array of services to Investment Advisers and Broker-Dealers. Ms. Storey has received her Certified Securities Compliance Professional (CSCP) designation and is a member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals. She holds the Series 4, 7, 24 and 66 registrations.

  • Head of Quantitative Research, Portfolio Manager

Prior to joining Cognios in 2013, Mr. Bido was with American Century Investments most recently serving as a senior quantitative researcher. For the full length of his tenure Mr. Bido was involved in advanced quantitative research and as such his responsibilities included stock selection modeling, portfolio construction and risk management. Mr. Bido also spent more than five years as a business process consultant where he worked with high-profile clients, such as American Express and Sprint. Mr. Bido holds a B.S. in electromechanical engineering from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra, an M.S. in mathematics from New York University’s Courant Institute, and M.S. and M.A. degrees in applied mathematics and economics, respectively, from the University of Arizona.

  • Stephanie M. Spilker, CPA
  • Director of Finance

Ms. Spilker has 21 years of experience in various financial, tax and investment related functions. Ms. Spilker also serves as the vice president of finance and taxation for Brandmeyer Enterprises where she has been managing tax, audit, investment and financial reporting for the firm and its affiliates since 2008. Ms. Spilker started her career with Ernst & Young before spending 14 years at Black & Veatch, one of America’s 200 largest private companies according to Forbes. While at Black and Veatch, Ms. Spilker served as the domestic tax director and assisted the firm on several strategic acquisitions, divestitures, and reorganizations. Ms. Spilker graduated with highest distinction from the University of Kansas with a B.S. in accounting and business administration and an M.S. in accounting. Ms. Spilker earned the Kansas gold key and an AICPA Elijah Watt Sells Certificate with High Distinction for her CPA exam score. Ms. Spilker also sits on the board and has served as the past chair and treasurer for Associated Youth Services of Kansas City, an organization that serves to advance the social, educational, health and overall success of youth and their families. She is a Certified Public Accountant.

Ms. White currently serves as the controller for Cognios Capital and Brandmeyer Enterprises. Prior to joining Brandmeyer Enterprises in 2010, Ms. White served as Senior Finance Manager in the Energy and Corporate Divisions of Black & Veatch, a global leader in the engineering industry. She began her 15 year career at Black & Veatch in the Internal Audit Department and continued to serve in various financial management positions within the Energy, Water and Corporate Divisions of the company. Ms. White began her career with the CPA firm of Schultz & Taylor, most recently serving as an audit manager. Ms. White received her bachelor of science in accounting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Tsiguloff serves as director of information technology at Cognios Capital. Mr. Tsiguloff brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry to Cognios. He oversees all technology systems and is responsible for the development of technology solutions to support Cognios' investment processes. Mr. Tsiguloff has held executive positions in Information Technology in various industries including manufacturing, financial services, and client account services. Mr. Tsiguloff holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Kansas State University.

Mr. Pyle brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry to Cognios. Prior to joining Cognios, he served as a Senior Compliance Principal for a national Broker-Dealer and SEC Registered Investment Adviser. As such, Mr. Pyle was responsible for the design and oversight of many aspects of the firm’s compliance and supervisory program. Mr. Pyle has also served as a General Securities Principal and Financial & Operations Principal for a regional broker-dealer. Among other things, his supervisory experience includes advertising review, regulatory inquiries and investigations, supervision of managed accounts and policies and procedures implementation.

Mr. Pyle earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Kansas State University. He has also been awarded the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation by the Center for Fiduciary Studies and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Pyle holds the Series 7, 24, 63 & 65 registrations.

Tony DeMarino is head of intermediary sales for Cognios with a specific focus on the Eastern U.S. He is responsible for overseeing the sales team and expanding distribution of Cognios’ strategies through the RIA , bank/trust and independent broker/dealer channels. Prior to joining Cognios, Mr. DeMarino held high level sales and distribution roles for large fund companies such as Legg Mason and Scout Investments.

Mr. DeMarino holds his Series 6, 7, 26, 63 and 65 registrations. He received a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from the University of Pittsburgh.

  • Jack Fletcher
  • Regional Manager, Intermediary Sales

Jack Fletcher is a regional manager of intermediary sales. In this role, Mr. Fletcher is responsible for developing the registered investment advisor (RIA) and bank/trust sales channels for the firm’s mutual funds with a specific focus on the West Coast. Prior to his role at Cognios, Mr. Fletcher served as an internal wholesaler at Kansas City-based American Century Investments. Fletcher holds his Series 6 and 63 registrations, an Accredited Asset Management Specialist certification and has passed the CFA Level 1 Exam.

He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in economics from the University of Missouri.
